Every machine able to print the finest chips comes from a single company, in a small town in the Netherlands. Veldhoven, near Eindhoven, is the home of ASML, the world's only maker of extreme-ultraviolet lithography systems. The fabs of Taiwan, Korea and the United States wait for its deliveries. The mirrors come from Germany, the light source from the United States, and everything comes together here. It is the narrowest bottleneck in the whole silicon chain.
